Big Jim is a 25 year veteran of the animation industry, having worked as a storyboard artist, storyboard supervisor, series director, and occasional mediocre voice artist. One of the original crew members on Cartoon Network’s classic series “Ed, Edd n’ Eddy” during its entire run, he went on to storyboard, storyboard supervise, and eventually became Supervising Series Director of “My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic”. He went on to direct on a revival of “Johnny Test” for Netflix in 2021, and is currently trying his hand with #D projects, working on a series of 4 44 Minute Seasonal Strawberry Shortcake specials being done in Unreal, due to debut on Netflix in Fall of 2023.
Jim has also had a comic strip serialized in Skeptical Inquirer Magazine, which he co-created with writer Zack Kruse, co-written the lyrics for a song on MLP, directed celebrity guest stars (Patton Oswalt, “Weird” Al Yankovic, William Shatner, Felicia Day & Rachel Bloom), designed t-shirts and doodled indie comics. He has also been a panelist at San Diego Comic Con as well as many My Little Pony fan cons (Everfree Northwest, Whinny City, Harmony Con, Etc.).
In 2020, he self published a collection of drawings of classic film casts, titled “Rental Classics”. 2023 saw the release of a second volume, titled “Rental Classics - Volume 2”. Both books, as well as prints, can be purchased at bigjimstuff.storenvy.com
When not making cartoons, Jim has been known to perform improv, watch a bunch of movies, and enjoy reading comics.
Jim lives in Vancouver, BC, Canada.
